Let's get Creative Hobart!

We are really excited about our upcoming Photography Tour and Workshop partnering with local professional Photographer and Artist, Arwen Dyer.

Hobart by Night, Dark Delight - please click here for reservations. This is a small group curated event for a maximum of 10 people.

Our innaugural workshop and tour is 20th June, followed by the 8th August and 19th September. It will be a very hands on, skills focused and dynamic wander or tour around Hobart together with Arwen, and with transport, logistics and care for safety and comfort provided by The Derwent Experience.

The 20th June is practically the Winter Soltice, so there will be more darkness than any other month, and lots of lights in the darkness to focus on, including Spectra at MONA - we can try several vantage points for optimal composition. Likewise the Tasman Bridge.

The “tour” starts at 3 pm and runs until approximately 10 pm. We meet at a central location in Hobart and then after the introductions and briefings we get on board the bus - the very clean bus - and visit multiple locations. At the end of the ‘tour’, we can take you home, as long as home is not too far from Hobart’s centre.

This is a photographic tour / workshop and is suitable for anyone with a digital camera, and all abilities from beginner to the very experienced. Menu functions and best modes to shoot in, image stabilisation, exposure control, depth of field and focus control will be some of the techniques that Arwen will address and provide feedback and guidance on.

The first ‘assigment’ will be late afternoon, shadows, twilight and sunset. When the lights come on we will visit some interesting places for both close ups, long views and wide angles. An absolute treat and something both exclusive and special is a private Fire Twirling performance at a secret location by Samson, a member of the renowned Fyrebird Flow Collective. Imagine your own private muse and perfomance.

Bring along your camera and any other equipment you may have such as tripod, lenses, filters.

The ticket price is a very reasonable $130 per person, and includes a welcome drink upon arrival/meeting, snacks, dinner stop at a food truck - great for night action photos (food not included) or BYO and a signed copy of an Arwen Dyer original photography book.

Please contact Sam directly on 0412227111 to reserve.
