March 2020 - a Month when Everything changed for Everyone

How are you doing today?

I am fine thank you. My Family is well. The Children are still at school for now.

What a time we are living in and all experiencing together.

My head has been spinning and heart heavy over the past few weeks. Surreal is one adjective that I use to describe this dislocation from pre-Corona times.

Babies being born in March 2020 will be known as a new generation - Gen C.

The Travel Industry, Tourism, Hospitality, Accommodation, Service and Retail sectors all significantly impacted and irrevocably altered. What a time to be alive!

For my own little enterprise, what a time to launch. This website went live in late February 2020 and I was just starting to get stuck into some serious marketing and promotional activity. Behind the scenes I was networking and really pushing myself to be effective as I pursued a new path.

As a PAYG person for the past 20 plus years, and a primary carer for young children over the past 5 years, it was my time to try. To try and realise a dream, something of my own creation. I am so grateful that my Wife and Partner supports me. I hope that this enforced closure of our entire industry does not last for too long and people’s ability to enjoy simple pleasures is quickly reignited.

In this period of suspended animation, of mandated hibernation, for the entire nation, The Derwent Experience will look after its family and friends, help out in the community as it is able and will hopefully be able to fulfill its vision and mission later in the year.

As the Good Book says, “To everything there is a Season, a time to dance, a time to mourn, a time to laugh and a time to cry…Turn, Turn, Turn.”
